It has been raining for more than 14 days straight and I'm getting tired of it. The ground is wet, the thunder and lightening scary and my food gets soggy if I don't eat it right away. I have started going into the dog house Zazu's humans built for me a few years ago. It isn't so bad. It keeps me dry and has hay in it. It is a bit scary because I can't see all around me but I know I'm safe in Zazu's yard with a fence around it. And when the rain stops, it is very hot. Luckily, with all of this rain, the pond has filled up with water and I can swim in it and cool off. It has been nice on our morning walks lately because it is cool and no one else joins us which means I get all of the treats instead of having to share them with other dogs like Rollie. He is such a pig.
The fleas and mosquitoes are really bothering me now and I should just let Zazu's human get close enough to put something on my coat to keep them away but I still am afraid of humans. I know she is good and cares about me but still, I don't know what she is doing when she comes too close.
I am waiting for Zazu to come out for our afternoon walk. I am afraid that it will start raining again and she won't come out. I really love to go to the meadow with her. Hope she'll come out soon...

May 12, 2009
I am a feral dog living in Tampa, Florida. I am at least ten years old but probably older. Some say I look like a wolf and others think I look like a bear. I am black with a long fur coat and a glorious tail that wags like a pennant when I run. It is too bloody hot to do much running today. All I can do is lay in the cool sand backyard of my sidekick's house. At least today, it was cool in the morning so trotting around the meadow felt good. I got the usual amount of treats from Zazu's human companion and they tasted good. The pond is almost dried up so I can't go swimming in it anymore to cool off. It's not easy wearing a black fur coat in this heat and humidity. You would think I'd be use to it by now but I'm not. My stomach is better today so at least I could eat the food Zazu's human put out for me. She gives me special treats at the oddest times but hey, can't argue with dried duck filet or pieces of cheese. She keeps trying to pet me but I don't trust humans in general even though I know this one loves me. It is too hot to chase the rottweiller behind the fence down the street. All I can do is just lay around until it cools off if the rains come.
